A quiet day
It is our last day in France with Emma. It has been great to
spend some time with her although John will have to learn how to better deal with an
adult daughter!!
Up early as Emma needs to catch a train to Bordeaux. Ready
and packed and out of the house by 0730 and a quick easy trip through to
Castillon. Kris had this marvellous idea for Em to catch a train in to Bordeaux rather
than car then tram then tram to get to the station. Great idea. The train
worked like magic.
Dropped Em off and her two parents waved forlornly at the
departing train while their daughter studiously ignored them facing the other
way. Out of sight out of mind. We killed ourselves laughing.

A Tour on the tour |
Back to the house to do some blog work and other catch ups.
It was a lovely day and so we decided to walk through the vineyard and up a wee
alley that headed over the hills. Forty minutes later we were in Gensac!!! If
only we had known we could have got Emma to do a baguette and croissant run
every morning. Quelle damage. So we made up for it by reacquainting ourselves over
coffee with the owner of Le Gensak, the restaurant we dined in the previous
night. Sitting in the sun, drinking coffee, watching the world go by. Bliss.
Tried to book ourselves in for dinner but no, it is not a usual meal. It is
fish and chips night. If we want fish and chips the lovely owner will go and
buy us some fresh fish!!

So we head back lover the hill, snapping photos and general larking
about. Settle back in but the rains come, not too heavy but just enough to
force us indoors.
Dinner is a hoot. We choose to sit outside on the side-walk.
The air is warm and still with noises percolating from the bar. It seems that
the fish and chips has brought out the ex-pat crowd. The usual noisy Poms. We
sup on a local Sauvignon Blanc which goes down a treat over an hour or so
before we get our shark and tatties. No, not shark, but beautifully cooked
shoulder of cod in the crispest batter, moist, flakey, and very yummy. The
mushy peas were interesting as well.

The car drove itself home. It now knows the way!
